My Children

My Children is a poem written by Ruth Desjardins about her children.

My Children

(Lisa 2 years old)

Dirty face and messy hair,

Happy smiles and tickles,

Dancing eyes and gleeful laughs,

And peanut butter kisses.

(Andy 6 years old)

Running, jumping, climbing walls,

Squeals that threaten bad guys,

Leaping this and riding that,

Toothless smiles and glad eyes.

(Shelley 8 1/2 years old)

Sweetly smiling gentleness,

Dancing heart aglow,

Shelley

Flashing feet and dazzling smiles,

Fiery pride that shows

(Nickie 11 years old)

Dreamy, wistful tenderness,

Happy eyes that dance,

Delightful feelings, special thoughts,

Sweetness in her glance.

(Marnee 12 years old)

Little girl in grown-up clothes,

Sparkling eyes agleam,

Big enough for secrets now,

Old enough for dreams.

I watched them as they played today,

Their dreamy eyes aglow,

My children who have filled my life,

And oh, I love them so!

Simple, straightforward, but oh so powerful! I can see her with every word she wrote.
