Love’s Comfort

Love's Comfort is a poem about love by Ruth Desjardins

Above the raging thunder

Throughout the tearful rain,

While angry storm clouds threaten,

I hear your voice again.

And suddenly I’m smiling

My strength returns and then

The warmth of sunlight flickers;

You’re here – the thunder ends.

Before your gentle presence,

Within your tenderness,

I tell you of my shadows:

You fill the emptiness.

My fear of storms is banished;

The sky seems bright above;

And once again I’m strong and free

To feel the joy of love

In the magic of love’s comfort

I only seek your love;

You make my world beautiful;

You are my joy, my love.

So strange how love erases

So many wounds ands scars;

So strange when I am with you

I’m lifted to the stars

Then I want to give you something

But I only have my smile–

The Smile that you give back to me

When you stay with me a while.

Impossible to see the rain,

Love’s rainbow shines so clear;

Unneeded is your comforting–

There’s joy where you are here.

Somehow you calm the storms in me

And all my pain is healed,

I see the loving in your eyes

And love is all I feel.
